What is Breathe in-Break out?
Breathe in – Break out! is a project of cultural empowerment that approaches Hip Hop in two ways: Breathe in to feel and understand the world that surrounds you. Break out, liberate yourself from the chains of self-deception which keep you from BEING and BECOMING. Those who want Hiphop to be just another tradable commodity fool us into believing that Hip Hop is the glorification of violence, drugs, sexism and homophobia. This is NOT Hip Hop. Hip Hop is an open space wherein all human beings can take part, regardless of their physical, economic or cultural attributes. The BIBO Festival defends and enacts Hiphop as a cultural commons. To this end, around a 1000 artists, activists, scholars, children, youth, adults, actors and spectators will gather in Halle from 5th to 11th of August.
Was ist das Breathe in-Break out?
Breathe in-Break out! ist ein Projekt zur kulturellen Selbstbestimmung und Selbstbefähigung. Wir befassen uns mit Hip Hop in zwei Schritten: Einatmen, um die Welt um uns herum zu fühlen und zu verstehen. Ausbrechen um uns frei zu machen von den Fesseln der Selbsttäuschung, die uns darin hindern, zu SEIN und zu WERDEN. Diejenigen, die in Hip Hop nur ein weiteres vermarktbares Produkt sehen, wollen uns glaubhaft machen Hip Hop sei Verherrlichung von Gewalt, Drogen, Sexismus und Homophobie. Dies ist NICHT Hip Hop. Hip Hop ist ein offener Raum, in den jeder und jede eintreten kann, unabhängig davon, was seine/ihre körperlichen, wirtschaftlichen, oder kulturellen Attribute sein mögen. Das BIBO Festival verteidigt Hip Hop als ein kulturelles Gemeingut und bringt Hip Hop gleichzeitig als ein solches hervor. Aus diesem Anlass kommen vom 5. bis zum 11. August an die 1000 Aktivisten, Künstler, Denker, Kinder, Jugendliche, Erwachsene, Akteure und Zuschauer in Halle zusammen.
