“Art in a frame…” – Performance by ROCCO AND HIS BROTHERS
“One morning policemen were alarmed by a recently put up graffito and removed its frame which made Rocco and his brothers very sad. For a whole twelve hours „Art in a frame is like an eagle in a birdcage“ was missing its frame. The first photos appeared online, without the frame, exposed! The mission seemed to engage Rocco’s loyal friend and mother of choice Sigrid Nikutta who also holds the office of chairwoman of the local public transport company. Only one night later a new frame hung at the same spot. Additionally some official company posters hung on the premises pointed out the relevance of the artwork.
Rushing overeagerly Sigrid used a highly effective adhesive so even after multiple cleaning attempts now after four years of all things the frame is still there.
A frame puts art in its place. A location where art is allowed to occur.
Artistic expression is not a hazard! Lets accept the challenge, the affront that poses explosive creativity. Art is what happens outside of insulated reservations – in the interspace, in the abyss, beyond the barricades.
Free space has to be fought for and to be lived in uncertainty.”
