Der Künstler Lukas Zeilinger aus Berlin stellt heute erstmals sein “Painting Dhaka” Projekt mit einem Trailer vor. Der knapp 100minütige Dokumentarfilm erzählt die Geschichte seiner bewegenden Reise in eine der ärmsten Gegenden der Welt und soll noch dieses Jahr kommen:

Der Film „Painting Dhaka“ nimmt den Zuschauer auf unterschiedlichen erzählerischen Ebenen mit auf die Reise in eine der ärmsten Gegenden der Welt: in die Slums von Bangladeschs Hauptstadt Dhaka.
In einer Mischung aus Doku, Animations- und Kunstfilm taucht der Erzähler und Hauptprotagonist Lukas Zeilinger immer weiter in den Sumpf aus Armut, Korruption und Unterdrückung ein und entlarvt allmählich das kaputte politische System des Landes.
Was als filmische Begleitung eines Graffiti-Workshops in den Armenvierteln der Bangladescher Hauptstadt beginnt, entspinnt sich im Lauf der Handlung zu einem veritablen Doku-Krimi über den eigentlichen Sumpf des Landes: die korrupte Elite Bangladeschs, die sich an der Armut seiner Bewohner bereichert.
Im Zentrum der des Geschehens: die staatliche Eisenbahngesellschaft Bangladesh Railway. „Painting Dhaka“ ist ein Film über Macht und Ohnmacht – und wie man beide überwindet. Und ein persönlicher Film über die Kraft der Kunst.

An art project in the slums of Bangladesh and the question: How corrupted is our view of a corrupt country?
The film “Painting Dhaka” takes the viewer on a journey to one of the poorest areas in the world: the slums of Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. In a mixture of documentary, animation and art film, the narrator and main protagonist Lukas Zeilinger delves further and further into the swamp of poverty, corruption and oppression and gradually exposes the country’s broken political system.
What begins as a film accompanying a graffiti workshop in the poor quarters of the Bangladeshi capital develops over the course of the plot into a veritable docu-crime thriller about the real swamp of the country: the corrupt Bangladeshi elite, which enriches itself from the poverty of its inhabitants.
At the centre of the action: the state railway company Bangladesh Railway.
“Painting Dhaka” is a film about power and powerlessness – and how to overcome both. And a personal film about the power of art.
