Melbourne politicians in denial

Posted:   Posted By: twik

One of the coolest things I saw while visiting Melbourne last year was the flourishing streetart and colourfull graffiti burners found in the little lanes next to the big mainstreets all over the city. These lanes are also appreciated by loads of tourists, and openminded people in general, but there is now a big controversy in Australia after the lanes with graffiti where reproduced in a mini-version of the city at Disneyland in Florida. Local politicians are outraged because the reproduction was supported by tourist organisations and in the little secluded world of politicians, it brings blight on the city. Read more here. Here at ILG we can only support more free spaces for art and appeal to politicians to open their eyes and get with the times…

First train in Copenhagen

Back in 1984, Nikolaj Peyk walked into the Dybbølsbro yard behind Central Station and painted the first train piece in Copenhagen and Danish history. He did his own last name, a dedication to his mom and a shootout to Bruce.

After being a big part of early Copenhagen graffiti history with his crew Whap Gang, Nikolaj went on to write major danish rap history also. Nuff respect to Peyk!
